The Boston Herald is an American newspaper that circulates mainly in the city of Boston in the state of Massachusetts, with presence also in nearby areas. It’s a tabloid-format diary. By 2018 it had a circulation of 40,000 copies per weekday, 74,000 on Saturdays and 45,800 on Sundays.
Foundation and History
It was created in 1846 and is considered one of the oldest daily publications in the United States of America. Founded bya group of printers at John A. French & Company, it was originally published as a single sheet printed on both sides and sold at 1₵
It had the conception of having independence in politics and religion, as well as being liberal and critical in nature. He had an inclination for literature and drama, as well as for industry and entrepreneurship. He was also dedicated to the reporting and analysis of local and global news.
The Boston Herald has had many name and owner changes. On several occasions it has suffered mergers with other newspapers in the city of Boston. He has also had problems staying within the same company due to legal conflicts of ownership of different media.
In December 2017, the Boston Herald was declared bankrupt. However, by February 2018 Digital First Media bought it for US$11.9 million in an auction. This represented a decrease in the number of staff working at the newspaper from 225 to just 110.
To date he has won eight Pulitzer Prizes, of which four have been for editorial writing and three others have been given to him for photography before moving to tabloid format in the year. By 2012, I’m in the Top 10 of newspapers that do well according to Editor & Publisher.
