There are different types of newspapers, each having the freedom to choose the regularity of their publications. In the case of the Journal Pioneer, we have daily publications Monday through Saturday to cover the news happening on Prince Edward Island, Canada. The newspaper began its career in 1865 and then reduced its news to two publications a week, finally returning to the same scale as always.
Journal Pioneer History
Bernard and Bertram began the newspaper’s career running in 1865 under the name of the Summerside Journal with weekly publications giving news of local relevance. Some time later, under the direction of AR Brennam, the newspaper begins with its daily publications to give full coverage to all the events of the Second World War. At the end of this period the two weekly publications return to a maximum of 3 publications when another nearby newspaper closes.
The Journal Pioneer was born after the Summerside Journal printers ran on fire in 1947, where it was decided to continue working in rival newspaper printers, in this case, The Pioneer, founded in 1880. The merger was completed in 1957, and daily publications were adopted until Saturday.
