Manchester Evening News
Manchester Evening News is a British newspaper dedicated to publishing accurate, fair and truthful news, mostly from the Greater Manchester community, with an emphasis on supporting their needs and interests. But not only do we see news from Grand Manchester, but also from England and all over the world, so the variety in its sections is not lacking. Its slogan is “Breaking news, sport, entertainment” and this is reflected in the official accounts of its social networks, as well as in the official website of the newspaper.
The prestigious Reach PLC is the publishing group that owns and manages Manchester Evening News. It has done a good job of keeping it at the highest editorial standards, as evidenced by the millions of readers who follow the newspaper, as well as the thousands of followers on its social networks. The newspaper is often referred to as MEN and is updated Monday through Saturday. Its current news editor is journalist Darren Thwaites.
In 2018 it was awarded the Newspaper of the Year and Digital Edition of the Year by the British Regional Press. In addition, he obtained a daily print run of 36,715 copies.

The First Manchester Evening News appeared on Brown Street thanks to the initiative of politician Mitchell Henry on October 10, 1868, with the aim of making him a spokesman for his election campaign.
Some time later the director Mitchell Henry lost interest to see his campaign lost, so he decided to sell the newspaper to John Taylor son of the director of the newspaper “The Guardian”. That’s when the two newspapers start working as a team. In 1924, a few years after Mr. Taylor’s death, Manchester Evening News to John Russell Scott.
In 1930 the newspaper had an increase in circulation to 200,000, and so it continued to rise to 480,000 copies. In 2009 the newspaper had to reduce its number of workers due to economic problems until finally in February 2010, Manchester Evening News was sold to Trinity Mirror, now known as Reach PLC. Although in the beginning the newspaper could have had political purposes this is no longer true today, in its page they state that “we are not aligned with any political party, we are supporters of the people of the county.
The online version of Manchester Evening News was created in 2014. On April 2, 2015 was adopted the digital version to a completely free to the public, so sucriptions are not necessary. The current director of the online edition is Sarah Lester.
