The media have an endless number of platforms to reach the public, being the newspaper of the most classic media. The newspapers represent that first informative stage of the civilizations, for this reason it has cost so much to replace the printed ones. However, this does not make them forever preferred, as the functional takes the lead. Digital media is becoming a trend, thanks to its easy handling and lower cost.
In spite of this, a daily newspaper is published in Canada that echoes in its streets. StarMetro Edmonton has earned the reception of the masses and a somewhat respected reputation. Its digital format has also allowed it to advance in the current times, so much is expected of this newspaper in the future.
About StarMetro Edmonton
In their daily editions the general themes are present; sport, entertainment and variety, are an example. They also include topics of relevance to the locality, as well as the most current information at the national and international levels.
StarMetro Edmonton is part of a series of newspapers published by the StarMetro publishing chain. Which is a project between Sweden’s original global publication company Metro International and the national publication mass TorStar. The first publication of this editorial was in 2000, through StarMetro Toronto, expanding months later.
It currently has publications in Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax and Vancouver. Previously I also published in London, Regina and Saskatoon; but thanks to a bad handling in the stock these editions went out of circulation.
History and evolution
In 2000, when the first issue of the newspaper was launched, a tense situation arose between newspapers. The Toronto Star and the Toronto South began distributing free editions to subway passengers as a marketing strategy. A year later StarMetro Edmonton merged with GTA Today, owned by Toronto Star.
